What is Oregano Oil?

Most of us know Oregano as a fragrant herb that’s best known as an ingredient in Italian food. It’s from the same family as mint. Oregano has been used for centuries as a culinary spice. Its popularity goes back to the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations where it was used for medicinal purposes.

Oregano oil – Origanum Vulgare is extracted from the leaves of the Oregano plant. It contains a higher concentration of helpful compounds that occur naturally in the plant. (2).

The extraction is done via steam distillation. Steam distilled method of extraction allows for continual temperature control of the steam applied to the plant materials, thus preventing degradation of the delicate oregano oil.

Compared to other processes, when steam distillation is used, the volatile components of the plant can be distilled at temperatures lower than the boiling points of their individual constituents and are easily separated from the condensed water. The result is Pure and Active Essential Oil.

It’s definitely worth to mention that

Oregano oil is considered the MOST effective natural antibiotic that exists today!

As a herbal dietary supplement, it is most known for its use to help with respiratory health. Traditionally, it was used to ease the cold, flu and asthma symptoms. Oregano oil contains several potentially healing compounds like:

How to use Oregano oil

Oregano leaves can be used therapeutically as a tea to help with cold, and clear the nasal congestion. To make an oregano tea, use one tablespoon of fresh oregano leaves, or one teaspoon of dried leaves, pour over hot water and let it steep for 10 – 15 minutes. Strain and enjoy!

Oregano oil supplement comes in two forms.

Either a liquid or softgels.

Personally, I prefer the liquid form (what’s easier then add a few drops of oil into a glass of water?). The liquid oregano oil usually comes in a bottle with dropper. I simply add 4-5 drops of oregano oil into a glass of filtered water, stir the mixture with the spoon for about 15 seconds and drink it.

Another way of ingesting the oregano oil is to simply add 4 -5 drops to a teaspoon of olive oil and ingest. Drink a glass of water afterwards.

Conclusion:

I believe that health is wealth, and I definitely prefer prevention before the need to cure. I take the oregano oil for 2 weeks straight, and then I take two weeks off. During the summer months, I don’t use it as much as during the fall/winter. I haven’t been ill or had a cold or flu for many years. However, I do my best to take care of my body daily. I eat clean, don’t do dairy, no sugar, and no gluten – apart of very occasional high-quality sourdough. I try to sleep 7-8 hours every single day, move my body daily, and have a positive outlook on life.

Where I am today is an ongoing process, because one day I have simply decided to treat my body as a temple. There were no more excuses.

I am, by all means, not perfect. All I do is live my life the best I can. I am grateful for every morning when I wake up. Because with the new day, I have the opportunity to decide, how I want my life to be.

All I want is the same for you.

Decide, and then never look back.

You are not going that way, anyway.
