FOOD AS A FUEL – WHAT YOU EAT MATTERS

Food Is A Fuel For Your Body. What You Eat Matters.

What you fuel your body with matters.

Imagine a car you fill instead of petrol with the wrong liquid (let’s say water or olive oil for that matter). The car might move, but after a while, it will certainly stop.

The same goes for your body. If you are not fuelling the body with the good nutritious foods and liquids, after time it will show marks of disfunction.

Why do we care more about our cars than our own bodies? Surely, the car needs to function, as it will get you from point A to B, you need it for moving around, drive to work etc…and you probably don’t want to pay for the repairs that often, as it’s just not economical, so you always put the right fuel into it.

Why do we put more attention to things than to our one & precious body?

food as a fuel

Many people do not care too much about what they eat and drink, as they are simply focusing on temporary pleasures. They only think in terms of how do they feel now, in the moment of eating, and shortly afterwards. And then ending up with pains, and pay for the pharmaceutical drugs without questions.

No much attention goes to how will they feel in the future. 5 hours from now, tomorrow, in a month, a year, 10 years…

In today’s society, we have been conditioned to disconnect from our bodies. All those TV adverts, billboards, magazines, and flyers… telling us to buy the cheap processed foods that are often loaded with unknown substances, chemicals, fillers, processed oils, and sugar, constantly telling us what should we buy. Yet, we are forgetting they are only tricking us into buying the so-called ‘food concoctions’ that will only make us sicker but will bring the profits to particular companies…

Step back in time.

I urge you to take a step back and look at what people ate just a few hundreds of years ago. Yes, people might have had a shorter lifespan, and there were some individuals with abnormalities and diseases, but there certainly weren’t so many people dying from heart disease – the number one cause of death worldwide today (and other so-called ‘modern world’ diseases).

People are suffering. People are inflamed. Irritated. Anxious. Depressed. Disconnected.

The problem is not the knowledge – we all know what to eat and what not to eat to feel better, we all know that drinking clean water is crucial, that eating more vegetables, and less sugar will only benefit us in a long term.

The problem is with applying the knowledge.

Motivation.

When I ask people why they choose not to eat healthily, or not to drink water, I often hear that they are just not motivated enough. They might feel the spark of motivation initially, but after a few days, it’s gone.

Let me tell you something profound.

To be motivated is not always about feeling energetic and enthusiastic to ‘do the thing’. To be motivated means you want to achieve something so badly, that despite literally hating doing some things (like eating healthy or drinking enough clean water, waking up early, exercise…), you do it, because you can see yourself at the end of all that struggle.

And at the end of the struggle, after all the hard time you put into something you want so badly, there is the sweet victory waiting for you. Despite many obstacles, many failures, many moments when you have to ‘force’ yourself into doing ‘the right thing’.

If you want something badly enough, you will do anything and everything for it.

I am not a big fan of waking up at 5am every day, but I do it. And believe me, I am not a morning person at all! In fact, if someone told me a few years ago that I will be waking up at 5am daily, I will laugh hard!!

Meditation? Say what? I have tried so many times! This track and that one – it’s not for me… until it just is for me, and it is for everyone. You don’t need to call your practice meditation, perhaps just the ability to switch off, sit mindfully for 10-15 minutes, and focus on nothing just your breath. Will the thoughts come to your mind? Of course, they will! Your brain is a muscle after all, like your heart – it works involuntarily. It can’t stop beating! However, more often you practice, better it gets! And you can then turn your disturbing thoughts (to-do list, and work stress, family stress) into positive visualisation of how you would like your life to be.

Focus on what can you create in your life.

It is your life and your body.

You decide what you do.

I offer you to question your daily choices, that don’t serve you in the long run. With every morning you wake up, you can change your life.

Decide deliberately to do things that will serve you well.

Drink water.
Eat healthy foods.
Cook from scratch.
Be mindful.
Exercise.
Love yourself enough to live a healthy lifestyle.

You will do anything for a person you love, your child, your partner, your parents, friends…

Do something for yourself too.

Just decide.

Keep Shining!
